Welcome to Nature Camp!

Founded on the concept that what we do has an impact and makes a difference, Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ) Nature Camp reunites its residents with nature through exploration of the outdoors. Our campers are provided a secure, non-competitive environment where they expand upon their skills and knowledge related to science, nature, and the environment.

FONZ Nature Camp Open House
Looking for an educational summer program that will engage and get your child outside? Then FONZ Nature Camp is for you!

Join us for a sneak peek of campus and see what Nature Camp is all about. The day will start with a presentation and Q&A with the camp directors at 1pm. We will cover everything from a Day in the Life of FONZ Nature Camp, to examples of camp lesson plans and topics, to camper paperwork. This will be followed by a short tour of SCBI’s main campus and the camp facilities (dormitory and dining hall) provided by Smithsonian-Mason School of Conservation (SMSC). The event will conclude around 3pm.
